A Little Bit About Liz
During a journey of self-discovery amid a pandemic, Filter & Beam Stained Glass was born in a small backyard shed in Austin, TX. Liz Liebeskind has worked for numerous industries with a background in the arts, including live entertainment and events, where she was sought out for her creativity and client service. After a lifelong admiration for stained glass art, Liz has moved on from the corporate world and is using her creative design to bring the ethereal experience of stained glass into everyday spaces. Liz is heavily influenced by pops of color, bold statement pieces, and her Mexican culture, allowing her creative spirit to guide her designs. Standing at a small but mighty 5’1”, Liz’s personality and infatuation for a good tequila allow her to bring her lighthearted custom approach to each of her pieces.
I choose to work with glass as a medium because of its ability to continue to transform both space and light no matter the time or place. When extreme heat meets natural elements, my materials are transformed into many shades of color, depth, and texture. I strive to capture the height of the glass' potential into pieces that offer a sense of awe, reflection, and vividness of a space. With light, my pieces shift and transform constantly, either straight on or with the shadows they cast. I offer moments for each viewer to engage with the work in various ways depending on the time of day, weather, or light available. As glass and filtered light can be hard to capture with cameras, only the viewer's eyes genuinely absorb the filter of the glass piece in front of them.
